Growing up we read books we not only enjoyed, but kept for years, placing them lovingly on our shelves because we kept going back to them. Even years later, we haven't lost the desire to re-experience those stories and share them with others. They were, and still are, a way to help drain off the excesses of the day, and to inspire us to be more than we are. We also looked forward to the next issue of our favorite magazines, some of which were full of imaginative stories and art. We hung onto these as well, sometimes cutting out our favorite pieces and compiling them into cherished scrapbooks.
The mission of Speculative Fiction Illustrated (SFI) is to create that same sense of nostalgia for both young and old by publishing a clean literary magazine that focuses on stories and art that will be relevant both now, and in the future. We strive to bring good quality stories that can be enjoyed without the fear of reading our way into a forest of profanity, pornography or excessive and graphic violence. We hope to give you a place where you can open your mind to the visions of others, but still feel safe in your reading entertainment.
In the beginning when God was passing out talents, it may seem as though Mike was given an extra portion. A true Renaissance man, Mike has a wide variety of interests and talents. Driven by the wind of his moods, he creates something beautiful from the obscure and mundane.
Fantasy and Science Fiction have always been his favorite genres. They burst forth from the words on the page and from the illustrations he pours his heart into. With the pallete of a true chef, he can season any dish. His shop is home to wood working and knife making. An introvert since birth, he is content to sit on the side and enjoy the company of friends and family above all else.
Mark has been writing science fiction since his teenage years. He is a computer scientist, engineer, and co-author of Universe: the Sci-Fi RPG.

Kristen wants to do everything she sees someone else doing well. If she's listening to a choir, she wants to sing, if she's hearing a great lecture, she wants to teach, and if she's reading a great book, she wants to write. But without a push from her husband, she never would have started putting pen to paper. Kristen is a mechanical engineer, educator, and mother, and keeps herself busy with every passion that she can fit into her life.
Laura was lovingly adopted into the world of Science Fiction and Fantasy when she started dating Mike 20 years ago and learned to play “Universe” RPG. Many movie nights of aforementioned genres followed, and never to be forgotten, dressing in Medieval clothing for “Bacon Fest”.
After nearly 29 years, she retired from working as a geriatric nurse. She is now a full-time, stay at home Mom that enjoys waterobics, gardening, weeding, and organizing. Her favorite thing is watching her girls grow, spending time together as a family, and cuddling with Mike on the couch to watch TV.
